The Papastratos Tobacco Warehouse, located on the eastern end of Volos Port, on the Argonauts coastal road, is undoubtedly one of the most important landmarks of the city.

Built in 1935, the warehouse was the place were tobacco was processed, baled and stored. In 1985 it was acquired by the University of Thessaly, was renovated and today it houses the administration office of the University.

The Argonauts coastal road university complex itself, apart from the Papastratos Tobacco Warehouse, comprises two other new buildings that combine tradition with modern architecture and are well worth a visit.
